This November 4, 1928 Chicago Bears Weekly 8x11 broadside is in (EX) condition due to age induced foxing and soiling and chronicles the emergence of Walt Achiu (misspelled "Achui"), the Hawaii-born (not yet a U.S. state) player who was the first person of Chinese descent to play in the NFL. Of Achiu it is written "(he) has natural football ability so seldom found in people outside of Americans, and his great speed makes him a dangerous customer at all times to the enemy and a big asset to his own outfit. Achui tips the beam at 170 pounds." The Bears won that November 11 battle 27-0, the same score by which they had won their contest against the Yankees the prior week. According to our consignor, the broadside was originally from George Halas's personal collection and was the only specimen found from that game!
