Description

Following the ravages of World War II, the Bowman Gum Company of Philadelphia broke new ground with their 48-card baseball issue. Offered is 1948 Bowman Baseball uncut 36-card sheet that challenges conventional notions of high numbers in the issue. The artifact is composed of (4) 9-card rows and consists of #1 Elliott (crease), #2 Blackwell, #3 Kiner RC, #4 Mize RC, #5 Feller, #6 Berra RC, 9-11, #12 Sain, #14 Reynolds, 15, #17 Slaughter, #18 Spahn RC, #19 Henrich, 21, 23, 25, 27, 31-33, 35, #36 Musial RC (corner crease), 37, #38 Schoendienst RC, 39, #40 Marion, 41-46, #47 Thomson and #48 Koslo. A vertical crease resulting is a 2” split betwixt #5 Feller/#6 Berra RC on the top row and 1” split between #32/33 on the bottom row is evident. Additional perimeter/corner wear and wrinkling does not seriously affect this piece’s overall presentation.
