Feel the ultimate comic collecting thrill when you take possession of this original artwork created for "The Mighty Thor" Annual #5. This four-panel piece is numbered as page "20" of a story featuring Thor vs Hercules. A classic confrontation of Norse and Greek mythological titans, this piece is the work of master comic creator John Buscema (d.2002), whose depiction of these supremely powerful super-hero deities is truly magnificent. A Marvel Comics mainstay, Thor got his start in the "Journey Into Mystery" anthology series. The "Thunder God" proved so popular that the title was renamed "The Mighty Thor" beginning with issue #126, which also featured the dream match-up of Thor vs Hercules, a clash that always scores big with fans. Nothing short of a spectacular prize for "True Believers", this 11 x 15-3/4" original layout remains in excellent condition and production notations on the borders, along with a copyright credit stamp on the reverse, provide credible provenance. An extra special treat is found on the reverse in the form of a couple pencil sketches by Buscema, that are reminiscent of gods rendered in Pre-Raphaelite fashion.
