Originally the property of a dedicated autograph collector, these (7) 1950s period signed album pages are graced with the autographs of some of the top players of the 1940s-1950s, including (5) who went on to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame and (3) who were All-Star selections on multiple occasions. All of these autographs appear on pages with period photo clippings, with (6) pages signed on one side only and (1) page signed on both sides as noted below.
As you would expect, these sixty-plus year old sheets have toned and show varying degrees of edge chipping, but all save one signature are unaffected. Unfortunately that one had to be the lot highlight of Jackie Robinson. Personalized “To Gary”, Jackie’s signature remains appealing, though the bottom parts of the letters “son” of his surname are gone with the bit of page that took them away. The visible majority of Robinson’s penning shows pleasing (“8-9”) potency. The other (7) autographs in this lot also show (average “8-9”) strength on cream-colored pages with: Warren Spahn, Robin Roberts, Del Ennis (signed on the back of the Roberts page), Duke Snider, Birdie Tebbetts, Stan Musial, Eddie Stanky. Auction LOA from JSA.
